Recording for iTunes U

Page history last edited by Brian Croxall 15 years, 1 month ago

Almost all recent desktop monitors and laptops come with built-in microphones that are more than adequate for recording your poem. If you already have sound recording software that you like and know how to use (i.e. GarageBand, Sound Forge), you should stick with that. If you do not have such software, I recommend Audacity, which is a free, open-source sound editor.

Rather than trying to write out instructions for working within Audacity, I will demonstrate how to use it within class. Trust me: if I can do it, so can you.

When you have recorded your poem, you will need to convert your file into the .mp3 format before uploading to iTunes U. This process varies depending on the tool that you are using. If you are using Audacity, you will need to download a small, free plug-in to help with the conversion. You can watch a tutorial on Emory's iTunes U for getting this plug-in and associating it with Audacity.

If you need assistance with recording, you are more than welcome to stop by with your laptop during my office hours. Also, you should feel free to visit or contact ECIT for help with this portion of the project.
